| Project |
Anniversary party for Daimler-Chrysler with a "Studio 54" theme, to take place in a bespoke marquee on the grounds of Althorp House, Northampton.
| The Brief |
To recreate the sensational and hedonistic atmosphere of the original Studio 54 at the peak of its glory days in 1970's New York.
| Approach |
The key to capturing the guests' imaginations was to give them a visual feast which they could immediately connect with and relate to their impressions of what Studio 54 was all about.
Working closely with costume designers, stylists and make-up artistes, we concentrated on giving every single member of the cast (20 dancers, 6 acrobats, 2 aerialists, 4 stunt skaters) a unique "character identity" which they were then encouraged to expand upon and enhance. As a result, when guests initially arrived at the venue, they were surrounded by a crowd of larger-than-life, beautiful people who continued to interact with them and entertain throughout the evening. Three key pieces of staged entertainment culminated in a giant 70's Carwash scene, which starred the new Smart Car in the leading role!

| Staging
Challenges |
In order to counter the concern that some of the guests might miss the entertainment in such a large venue, Quantum built a long catwalk-style stage which snaked from one end of the marquee to the other. This meant that there would be multiple "fronts" which the entertainment would have to play to.

| Solution |
To ensure that guests didn't always have the same people performing
in front of them, the choreography had to continuously shift the cast
around the various segments of the stage. This meant that the artistes
were continuously facing in different directions and having to adapt
their sense of direction, whilst still managing to maintain their "on-stage" personas. |

| Costuming
Challenges |
It was known that historically,
the guests to these events always came dressed in themed
costumes and spared no expense. The challenge was to ensure
that our artistes didn't fade into oblivion amongst a crowd
already dressed to the nines in flares, sequins and afro wigs.
| |
| Solution |
Our stylists and make-up artistes
worked all-out to create a cast of stunningly beautiful and
outrageous individuals who could more than hold their own
amongst any fashionable crowd of the 70's.
